At Village Tails, we strive to make the adoption process as seamless as possible. We understand that bringing a new pet into your home is a big decision that will enrich your life in countless ways. That’s why we’ve developed a clear, step-by-step guide to help you find your perfect match and provide a loving home for one of our precious animals. Our dedicated team is here to support you every step of the way, from your initial interest to the joyful day you bring your new friend home.
How to Adopt: A Step-By-Step Guide:

Browse Our Selection: Visit our Animals page and use the menu to view the various pets we have available. Choose between cats and dogs to narrow your search.

Expression of Interest: Found a pet that captures your heart? Reach out to us for an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to initiate the process.

Patience is a Virtue: We meticulously review every EOI to ensure each animal goes to the right home. Thank you for your patience during this critical stage.

Meet Your Potential Pet: If your EOI is approved, we'll organise a Meet & Greet session. It’s a great opportunity for both you and the animal to see if it’s a perfect match.

Adoption Application & Home Review: If you're ready to move forward, you'll need to complete our adoption application and agree to a home review.

Review & Approval: Your application and home review will be assessed to guarantee a secure, loving environment for your potential pet.

Adoption Fee: Upon approval, you'll be required to pay the non-negotiable adoption fee. This fee directly supports our animal care efforts.

Welcome Home: Once the fee is processed, we'll coordinate the special day when you can bring your new pet home.
Adoption Fees
Your adoption fee serves a greater purpose than you may realise. It's an investment into the wellbeing of the animal you're adopting and helps sustain the vital care we provide to other animals awaiting their forever homes. The fee, which varies depending on the specific needs and requirements of each animal, covers essentials such as veterinary check-ups, vaccinations up to date, microchipping, desexing, and any additional necessary vet work as advised by our partner veterinarians.
We have a fixed pricing policy; the fees are non-negotiable. Be sure to familiarise yourself with our refund policy before committing to adoption, ensuring you're fully prepared to offer a stable and loving home to your new pet.

Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adopting one of our animals. Our aim is to find permanent and loving homes for all of our animals, while ensuring that their new home is a suitable and safe environment.
Adopters must be over 18 years old and able to provide proof of identification and residency. Additionally, evidence of home ownership or a rental agreement specifying that animals are allowed is required. We reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone who we feel may not provide a suitable home for our animals.
The adoption process involves finding a suitable animal, submitting an expression of interest form, and going through our adoption screening process. Our adoption fees vary depending on the animal, and all fees go directly towards the care and support of our animals.
We ask that adopters provide a safe and secure environment for their new pet, including proper shelter, food, and water. All pets must be provided with adequate exercise and medical care, including regular visits to a licensed veterinarian.
We encourage all adopters to take the time to research and learn about the needs and characteristics of the animal they wish to adopt, to ensure that they are able to provide the best possible care and environment for their new pet.

Refund Policy
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes an adoption may not go as planned. Our limited refund policy allows for a 14-day window following adoption. If you encounter any difficulties with your new pet, we strongly encourage you to contact us in the first instance to seek support and advice.
Should you return the animal within these initial 14 days, you'll qualify for a refund of the adoption fee, minus a $100 administrative charge. This fee is deducted to offset the costs of the adoption process, including veterinary expenses, food, and other care costs for the animal.
After the 14-day period, we cannot offer a refund. However, our commitment to you and your pet doesn’t end after adoption; we are here to provide ongoing guidance and support for any challenges that may arise.
